What Questions Do I Answer?

The most challenging part of any project is finding the right information. Research that is accurate, citable, and interesting can give our projects new life!

Research Questions

While doing your research try to answer the following questions:

  • Who does adinkra impact? What groups or individuals use adinkra?

  • What are the meanings behind the adinkra symbols? Why are the meanings important?

  • How and when are adinkra traditionally used? How are they used today?

  • Where in the world did adinkra originate? Are there other places where people use adinkra?

Reflection Questions

Along with research questions, it is also important to ask yourself some reflection questions. The answers may help you in deciding on a final project, but also help to to connect more with the subject matter:

  • Why may identity so important for the Akan people of West Africa?

  • What are some symbols that interest me? Why do they interest me? Is it the design or meaning that interests me?

  • Where may I have seen adinkra symbols before?

  • How do you celebrate your culture? What traditions may you or your family have? Are they usually religious? Ethnic?
